I Didn’t Interrupt: The Decennial of an Unmissable Festival in Lecce

Ready to experience ten days of journalism and political communication like never before?

From July 2 to 13, Lecce hosts the tenth edition of “I Didn’t Interrupt,” a unique event that transforms the Chiostro degli Agostiniani into a hub of debate and reflection. Organized by the association “Diffondiamo idee di valore” in collaboration with Coolclub and Libreria Idrusa, this festival is a must-attend for anyone interested in exploring the most current and complex topics of our time.

A Sparkling Start

The festival kicked off on Tuesday, July 2 at 8:00 PM with two exceptional guests. Irene Soave, a journalist for Corriere della Sera, will guide us through her book “Lo statuto delle lavoratrici,” exploring women’s rights in the workplace. Following her, Francesco Costa, deputy director of Il Post and voice of the podcast Morning, will present “Frontiera. Perché sarà un nuovo secolo americano,” a detailed analysis of global dynamics that will see America at the center of the next century.

Journalism and History

On Wednesday, July 3, Liliana Faccioli Pintozzi will discuss her book “Figlie di Eva,” a powerful account of women’s struggles for freedom in Iran, Afghanistan, and the United States. Antonio Iovane will delve into history with “Il carnefice,” the biography of the executioner of the Fosse Ardeatine, Erich Priebke. Giuseppe Mazza will conclude the evening with “Campagne di guerra,” reflecting on communication and propaganda in conflicts.

The Language of Politics

On Thursday, July 4, Concetto Vecchio with “Io vi accuso” and Vera Gheno with “Grammamanti” will explore the power of words in politics and society. Their talks will take us on a journey through linguistics and history, revealing how language shapes our perception of reality.

Berlusconi and Italian Politics

On Tuesday, July 9, Filippo Ceccarelli will offer a unique portrait of Silvio Berlusconi with “B. Una vita troppo.” This work promises to unveil the darker and more fascinating sides of one of Italy’s most controversial political figures.

Extremism and Human Rights

Thursday, July 11 will be an intense evening with the theatrical workshop “The country of donkeys” and the presentation of three crucial books: “Le prime gocce della tempesta” by Leonardo Bianchi, an analysis of global far-right movements; “La notte sopra Teheran” by Pegah Moshir Pour, a poignant testimony about the lives of women in Iran; and “Cattive maestre” by Maria Cafagna, a tribute to women who influenced an entire generation.

Women and Revolution

On Friday, July 12, Barbara Stefanelli will speak about the courage of Iranian women with “Love harder,” followed by Stefano Bartezzaghi with “Chi vince non sa cosa si perde,” an analysis of competition and play in modern society. Edoardo Novelli and Gianandrea Turi will conclude the evening with “Divorzio,” a retrospective on the referendum that changed Italy.

Closing with Elegance

The festival will conclude on Saturday, July 13 with a discussion on inclusive and sustainable political communication. Gianluca Briguglia will guide us through the lives of Malcolm X and Martin Luther King with “Malcolm X and Martin Luther King. L’ape e la colomba.” Finally, Marco Damilano, a regular guest of the event, will help us retrace a decade of Italian politics with his unmistakable analysis.

A Complete Experience

“I Didn’t Interrupt” is not just a series of meetings but an immersive experience in the world of communication and journalism. Thanks to the collaboration with Anios – Associazione interpreti di lingua dei segni italiana, the festival also offers training sessions to make political communication accessible to all.

Live Lecce and Culture

Participating in “I Didn’t Interrupt” also means experiencing Lecce in all its beauty. The Chiostro degli Agostiniani, with its suggestive atmosphere, will be the perfect place to be inspired by the great names of journalism and culture.

Don’t miss the chance to be part of an event that promises to enrich your perspective on the world. We look forward to seeing you in Lecce from July 2 to 13 for the tenth edition of “I Didn’t Interrupt.” A festival that will make you reflect, discuss, and, above all, better understand the complexity of our present.
